Thursday Morning Snow Causes Travel Headaches [PHOTOS/ VIDEO]
The forecast was close to being correct -- 1 to 3 inches of snow with more to the south Thursday morning -- yet the snow seemed to catch many people off-guard this morning.
The snow picked-up in intensity right at the height of the morning rush hour in South Jersey, causing traffic on major highways to travel at about half the posted speed limit, while on minor roads school buses crawled along as just about every school district opened at normal time.
The National Weather Service is now calling for 3 to 4 inches of snow in the greater Atlantic city area with 4 to 6 inches in lower Cape May County.
Snow totals as of late-morning, as reported by the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly:
CAPE MAY 4.5" as of 10:00 AM 2/26
VILLAS 4.3" as of 10:30 AM 2/26
SEAVILLE 4.3" as of 10:00 AM 2/26
GREEN CREEK 4.0" as of 10:00 AM 2/26
NORTH CAPE MAY 3.9" as of 11:50 AM 2/26
BELLEPLAIN 3.0" as of 10:00 AM 2/26
