This ‘Bachelor’ Contestant Faking an Australian Accent Is Twitter’s New Hero
The new season of The Bachelor doesn't start until Monday (Jan. 7) but there's already a front-runner among the 30 ladies competing for bachelor Colton Underwood's heart.
Meet Brianna "Bri" Barnes, a 24-year-old model and former soccer player. She also does impressions. Well, sort of.
In a teaser clip for the premiere that's now gone viral, we see the moment Bri meets Colton and introduces herself. "So nice to meet you," she says after exchanging a hug with this season's bachelor.
"You've got a nice accent. Where are you from?" Colton asks the young woman. "The accent, it's Australian. I was hoping that you're kind of a sucker for accents," she replies smiling. "I love it," Colton replies.
Cut to Bri's private interview. "I'm not really Australian, but you gotta do what you can to stand out," she hilariously admits.
Bri is actually from Los Angeles, but her faux-Australian accent stunt was enough to get people talking. A lot.
In just a day, the 24-second teaser has amassed over 10 million views on Twitter alone.
Most people are finding Bri's unconventional method hilarious, perhaps a sign of how outlandish this season of The Bachelor might be. Many fans on Twitter are saying Bri is their pick to win the season while many who don't even watch are vowing they'll start solely to watch Bri every week.
