The Copa America is here and in full force! With the group stage matches still being played, let's take a look at the odds to win the Copa America.

The top 6 favorites according to NJ.bet are as shown:

  • Argentina: +175
  • Brazil: +240
  • Uruguay: +450
  • Colombia: +850
  • Mexico: +1200
  • USA: +1400

Naturally, the defending World Cup champions are the favorites to win the Copa America. This is the Last Dance for Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria, so of course the Argentina players are going to make a strong push to hoist the cup.

Brazil is a squad that has a lot of talent on their side, but cannot seem to put the pieces together. They were nearly -2000 to win their opening match versus Costa Rica and they drew 0-0. We will see how the rest of their group stages go, but if that first match is a sign of what is to come, I would stay far away from Brazil.

Uruguay is a fun, young squad. They have pieces that could get them far in the competition, but there are a lot of questions surrounding their attacking force, particularly young liverpool star Darwin Nunez. For what Uruguay is priced at, I do not see the value backing Uruguay to win the Copa America.

For Colombia, this may be the best team they have assembled since the 2014 World Cup, and this team eclipses the 2014 squad. Colombia priced at +850 with as complete of a team as you could have for me is worth a sprinkle. For me, they have something to prove, but with the potential that is there, this Colombia team could be worth the price.

When looking at Mexico, I feel that the reason why they are so high on this list is because of their history. I am not saying Mexico will not be a good team, but for me they are a middle ground team. I do not see them not getting out of the group stage, but I also do not see them advancing as far as the finals. Could they? Of course they could but they are going to have to answer a lot of questions for me to back them.

I think as an American, seeing the USA priced at +1400 is calling my name. This may be one of the best USA teams we have laid eyes on, and a team that can for sure compete for the cup. Having a player as talented as Christian Pulisic on your team who is able to blend with the rest of the Americans on this squad goes a long way. My only concern for this USA team is head coach Gregg Berhalter. In my opinion, he is the man that can stop this team from going far. If he stays out of the way and does his job, team USA may be able to fatten your pocket.

The pick for me is Argentina. I understand they are the favorites, but with this being likely Messi and Di Maria's last dance, they are destined to win the Copa America.

If I am looking to back a team at a really good price that has a legit shot, I would take the USA. This may be the best USA team we see for a while, so if there is going to be a time to win the Copa America, it would be now.
