Cops in Atlantic City say two teenagers, one of which attempted to hide in a dumpster, were arrested and a gun was recovered after they received a ShotSpotter alert Monday afternoon.

The Atlantic City Police Department says at about 3:00 Monday afternoon, officers responded to the 700 block of Maryland Avenue after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. Cops were told that two potential suspects were seen running into a home in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue. Officers surrounded the house and they attempted to call the occupants out.

After a short period of time Saalih Davis came out the back door. As officers were taking him into custody a 15-year-old female ran out of the door. Officers began to chase her and she attempted to hide in a trash dumpster. She was taken into custody and a loaded handgun was located inside the dumpster. Davis was taken into custody and found to be in possession of handgun ammunition.

There were no injuries reported from the shots fired.

The 15-year-old female from Atlantic City was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice and remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.

19-year-old Saalih Davis of Atlantic City was charged with failure to possess a firearms identification card; Davis was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
