Chase Petty

He is the second local pitcher to be selected in this years major league baseball draft, with Mainland's Chase Petty selected No. 26 overall by the Minnesota Twins on Sunday night.

Petty, a right-handed pitcher from Somers Point, had a terrific senior season, throwing 48.2 innings, giving up just eight earned runs all season. He struck out 99 hitters and walked just 17, finishing with a 6-1 record, posting a 1.00 ERA.

While there was no high school baseball season in 2020, one local pitcher is making a big name for himself on the the high school showcase circuit.
