South Jersey Woman Wins Lays Potato Chips $1 Million Flavor Contest
Meneko Spigner McBeth has gone from a South Jersey registered nurse to a national $1 million dollar winner thanks to Lay's potato chips.
I guess delicious ideas come from Deptford! Meneko, a Deptford resident, dreamed up Wasabi Ginger potato chips, Lay's created them, and now she's got some spending to do, NBCPhiladelphia.com reports.
McBeth's Wasabi Ginger idea beat out Cappuccino flavor. Each year Frito Lay gives the public a chance to create a new flavor. Mango Salsa and Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese also became finalists but in the end the approximately 1 million total votes cast online for the Do Us A Flavor promotion leaned heavily towards Wasabi Ginger.
Flavors from the four finalists hit shelves in late July. Last year's winner, Cheesy Garlic Bread, is still available.
McBeth was given the good news at a dinner Monday night in New York City.
