Want to hear something very sad. I used to joke with my little brother (who's studying to be a doctor) that one day I'll be living in a cardboard box outside of his luxurious house. Fact of the matter is that, this harsh reality is far from a joke for a lot of people in South Jersey...including children.

In which case, Family Promise of Cape May County is hosting a really cool event that helps spread awareness on similar circumstances such as homelessness in South Jersey. This event is called Cardboard Box City 2018.

Cardboard Box City is an OUTDOOR event. It is an afternoon, evening and overnight "camp out style" event, where participants bring and design a CARDBOARD BOX to sleep in overnight, braving the elements. We have contests for the best box created, the most money raised and best slogan created. Dinner will consist of a soup line, there will be music and an outdoor movie will be provided.

Those who partake on April 27th will commit to experiencing what the homeless do: sleeping inside a cardboard box for the night, with restricted food options.

This outing is "fun" for everyone, but the event encourages families, clubs, youth groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, middle and high school students, college students, sport teams, community organizations, and businesses to join the fight against homelessness!

Those who participate are asked to "pay rent" by raising at least $50/ person to help raise funds for the Family Promise Program so they can continue to help families in this type of crisis.

The event will take at The Lighthouse Church:
1248 Rt 9 South
Cape May Court House on Friday, April 27th, 2018.

Check in starts at 2pm and you can register here to sign up and get more information about Cardboard Box City 2018!
