NJ.com reports that work is finally underway to clear the roads in South Jersey after the effects of Winter Storm Jonas.

Local officials have graciously kept South Jersey updated through Facebook and Twitter throughout the storm. Here's the current updates for these counties:

Gloucester County:

  • Officials report that Tomlin Station Road (Harrison Township) has been reopened
  • Oldmans Creek Road is still closed by 4-foot snow drifts, this road goes through Woolwich and Logan Townships
  • You may find a handful of county roads still closed but these are open: Monroeville Road from High Street, Route 538 in Woolwich, and Heritage Road in Mantua.

Salem County:

  • There are no reports of closed roads this Sunday morning
  • The winds have changed direction which is good news since there will now be less flooding.
  • Expect flooding in some areas and Route 40. Route 30 is also closed since 9:30 this morning.
  • Atlantic County's Emergency Operations Center was closed down Sunday morning
  • Crews have been working since last night and this morning to plow and salt the area, but officials advice to drive with caution!

Camden County:

  • Officials are currently clearing the roads by using 100 trucks to get it done.
  • Officials advice residents to stay inside their homes and off the roads until further notice.

These are the current updates according to NJ.com. I know right now in Margate, there is still some flooding but it seems to be receding.

Gov. Chris Christie has also announced that N.J. roads, rail, and utility services should be getting back to normal. So if you are without power, Christie reports that majority should be getting electricity by this evening.
