Following a weekend church fire in Millville, the city's fire hydrant system is now being inspected.

CBS Philly says Millville's public work's commissioner, David Ennis, wants each fire hydrant checked, and for good reason. Apparently, the fire hydrant that was closest to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church wasn't working Sunday morning!

As a result, fire crews were unable to salvage the church's steeple and sanctuary after strong winds caused a tree to fall on the power lines. If the fire hydrant was working, perhaps fire crews had a better chance to save it.

The commissioner figured since crews were able to inspect 40 hydrants on Monday, then it should be a swift process to inspect the rest. He's predicting around 2-3 weeks for all fire hydrant systems to be checked.

Pretty good idea, especially since fire hydrants are obviously useful in case of a fire.
