Shore Fisherman Gets The Surprise Of A Lifetime In His Net: A Great White Shark

I'm going to start with a disclaimer right off the top here - no, the shark in the photo above is not the great white shark in question, but hey, when you need a photo of a great white shark for an article like this, you use what's available!

That being said, you can't take issue with how surprising of a day an Ocean County fisherman got recently when he pulled his nets in and found a great white shark as part of the day's catch.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Captain Tim Brindley was fishing about 2 1/2 miles off of Barnegat Inlet when he pulled his net in and was met with one of the ocean's alpha predators.

To be fair, this wasn't a school bus sized monster, but still, who goes fishing off the coast of Ocean County and expects to pull in a great white?

In the APP story, Brindley notes that the animal was already dead when he pulled it in (you have to believe that this would be a different story altogether if it wasn't!), and he did drop it back in the ocean.

But, of course he took a few photos first.

I mean, who wouldn't? In this day and age where we all carry phones in our pockets everywhere we go, you have to get proof for a fish story like this one!
