SHOCKING! 81 Year Old Gets Carjacked In Rio Grande
What kind of human being targets a harmless elderly man?
That's the first question that comes to mind after hearing the news that a poor senior citizen from Cape May County was carjacked as he and his wife were doing some grocery shopping at the Shop Rite in Rio Grande this week.
According to a press release from the Middle Township Police Department, the 81-year-old victim was waiting for his wife in the passenger seat of their running vehicle when who was described as a clean-cut Hispanic male forced himself into the driver's seat of the car and demanded that the older man exit immediately. He refused the carjacker's demand initially.
The victim told police that the carjacker threatened him with a weapon, more specifically, a firearm, but did not present it at the time of the carjacking. After refusing to abandon the vehicle, the assailant reportedly sped off in the car with the victim still inside. Police say that it was some sort of physical altercation which led to the 81-year-old finally exiting the vehicle, albeit forcefully by the assailant.
Unfortunately, the carjacker was able to get away before any authorities were able to arrive on the scene. The press release does confirm, however, that the car was later located in New Jersey's capital, Trenton. No indication has been made regarding whether or not the victim had to seek any medical attention after being forcibly ejected from his own vehicle.
