Senior Citizens Can Score Free Fruits and Veggies In Cumberland County
You can sign me up for some free produce any day! Sounds great to me!
Unfortunately, I'm not eligible. Cumberland County's senior citizens are sure in for a treat, though! If you're a resident of Cumberland County here in South Jersey and would be considered the age of a senior citizen, you might be able to stock up on some of the finest fruits and veggies our region has to offer.
Carol Musso, the Cumberland County Commissioner who also work's with the county's Office On Aging, revealed in NJ.com that seniors can use coupons distributed on behalf of the USDA Senior Citizens Farmers Market Nutrition Program to purchase for themselves some locally grown fruits and vegetables at any of the participating local farmers markets in Cumberland County. During a time when everyone in the state has struggled so hard, it's nice to see help being offered to those who need it.
If you're 60 years of age or older and you meet the household income requirements, you'll be able to acquire up to $30 in vouchers to stock up on produce for your home. This new program is possible thanks to a state grant that was given to Cumberland County's Office On Aging. If you or someone you know would be interested in taking advantage of the program, you should know that vouchers are in limited supply, so you're going to want to get everything in sooner rather than later.
