Real Housewife Melissa Gorga Advocating Rape Fantasies? [POLL]
With Teresa and Joe Giudice recently indicted on charges of fraud and facing prison time, Real Housewife of New Jersey Melissa Gorga has seemed liked the saintly sister-in-law. But the reality star could be coming under fire for statements she makes about sex and marriage in her new book.
The overarching theme of Gorga's book for how to have a hot and happy marriage seems to boil down to this: "Husbands want their wives to submit; wives want our husbands to dominate."
But one of the hot buttons in her new advice manual Love Italian Style, is a profession Melissa makes about marital rape fantasies:
"Men, I know you think your woman isn't the type who wants to be taken. But trust me, she is. Every girl wants to get her hair pulled once in a while. If your wife says "no," turn her around, and rip her clothes off. She wants to be dominated. Women don't realize how easy men are. Just give us what we want."
The Bravo star had RHONJ cameras chronicle her journey on writing her first book, and how she felt it incredibly important to meet the physical and domestic needs of her old-world Italian husband Joe Gorga because her own father was such a womanizer, and Melissa always thought her dad left because he was unhappy at home.
Gorga continues:
"Happy guys let more go. Issues get brushed off. Quickies count. Say what you want, but it's the truth.
[A] woman needs to keep herself in shape. She has to be seductive. She must be willing to try new things for her husband's pleasure and her own. And, most important, she has to be available for sex. There's real passionate sex and maintenance sex. You need them both for a healthy marriage. Maintenance sex keeps the wheels greased, the lines of communication open, and the fights to a minimum."
Melissa's book may not sit well will some women's rights advocates who will most likely feel the submissive housewife attitude sets feminism back decades. But what does her husband have to say about it? Here Joe Gorga shares his point of view on why husbands cheat:
"Refusing to initiate is a Top Three reason men cheat. The ugliest girl in the world could come on to a man in that state of mind, and he might have to go for it. He thinks, At least someone wants me."
Love Italian Style has obvious misogynistic overtones, but Melissa Gorga seems absolute in her opinions about the roles of husband and wife and in the household:
"When gender roles are confused, sexual roles are, too. If he's at the sink and then changing diapers, then who throws down in the bed? In our marriage, Joe is always the man, doing masculine things. I'm the woman, and I do the female things, including housework."
Depending on which side of the feminist fence you stand on, this manual could either destroy or save your marriage. But what of the rape fantasy quotes?
