While I'm sure we were all just glued to our TVs to watch the VMAs last night, there was more action going outside the Prudential Center in Newark.

About 100 clean water activists from various city groups marched up to the corner of the Prudential Center at 5:30pm, prior to the broadcast of the show.

The group embraced their First Amendment right to peacefully protest, and took advantage of the national spotlight shined on Newark. The protest managed to educate at least a few people, as attendees from areas outside of New Jersey learned about the on-going issue with lead in the water supply in Newark.

I am for pretty much any type of protest, just as much as I am against pretty much anything MTV does. Obviously the network didn't show any of this on TV, and kept the big stars away from the commoners, but the fact is, the message still got out.
