The Ocean City Police Department has issued a warning about a possible door to door sales scam targeting homeowners in the beach town.

The OCPD had received multiple reports by residents who were approached by a salesman from a company called 'Anchor's Away' peddling frozen foods. The man  allegedly approaches the home unannounced, targeting the elderly who can be easily intimidated by a high-pressure sales technique, according to NBC40.net. The homeowners are asked to commit large sums of money as a down payment for products to be delivered at a later date.

The salesperson is reportedly using a white colored pickup truck, or sport utility vehicle with no identifying marks.

Ocean City Police state they have been unable to locate a legitimate food company called “Anchor’s Away”.

Residents are being urged to ask any salesperson that comes to their home to produce valid photo I.D., and to call authorities if you are suspicious. If you have any information to contribute regarding these incidents, you are asked to call the Ocean City Police.
