One Direction has beefed up security for their tour of South America under threat of a possible kidnapping attempt.

1D has reportedly hired an enormous team of guards, some with military backgrounds, to protect them.

A team of private security guards are currently watching the boy banders around the clock because of fears they could be targets for kidnappers.

“There will be no wandering into the city for partying or sightseeing anywhere deemed dangerous -- and Colombia is definitely dangerous,” one source was quoted as saying. "No risks are being taken.

It's too bad the security wasn't on hand during 1D's recent concert in Lima, Peru.  47 people at that concert Sunday required medical attention for injuries sustained when the crowd began pushing and shoving to get nearer to the stage.
