Ocean City NJ Beach Tag Sales Soar to Record-Breaking Numbers

In fact, more than $2.2 million in beach tags were purchased at a preseason, discounted price even before the start of Memorial Day Weekend, according to ocnjdaily.com.

If that's not a sign that South Jersey was eager for the COVID-19 pandemic to turn a corner, I don't know WHAT is. After last summer's temporary beach closures and social distancing and mask mandate, beachgoers clearly seem ready to make up for lost time.

Ocean City Public Information Officer Doug Bergen told OCNJ Daily, “Ocean City sold more than 112,000 seasonal tags and brought in a record $2,242,000 in seasonal tags during the preseason discount period." He goes on to express his positive outlook as we roll into the official start of summer, saying, “Weather will be a big factor, but all indications point to a blockbuster summer in Ocean City."

That total reportedly beat the $2.1 million profit in 2019, making it a record.
