If it doesn't rain this winter, this could mean a higher water bill for us in the spring to compensate for North Jersey's drought.

North Jersey has been going through a drought since mid-October, and if things don't improve all of New Jersey will feel it's effects. At least our pockets will!

If or when Gov. Christie declares the drought a state of emergency, the state allows administrations to move water among utilities. This means people will be fined if they use too much water. Mind you the one and only time residents have been fined was back in 1985.

Rutgers professor David Robinson says, "the good news is there’s no suggestion we’re going to have a dry winter, but there’s also no indication it’s going to be a wet one."

So definitely something to keep an eye on in the upcoming months.
