NJ State Troopers Seek Witnesses in Parkway Crash that Killed a Child
State troopers are asking for your help as they continue to investigate a weekend accident that claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy.
Authorities say the crash happened Saturday night around 10:15 when a driver of a silver Volkswagen Passat lost control of his vehicle and overturned on the southbound side of the Garden State Parkway at Exit 89A from Route 70 in Lakewood Township, Ocean County.
According to police, "as a result of the crash, a 9-year-old male passenger was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries."
The Asbury Park Press identified the child as Jake Olivos and the driver as 19-year-old Luis Olivos, both of Beachwood.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the events immediately before or after it to contact the NJSP Troop "D" Holmdel Station's Criminal Investigation Office at (732) 441-4500. Anonymous tips are welcome.
