A New Jersey state trooper gave roadside assistance new meaning this week when his quick-thinking skills saved the life of a teenager who was choking on food.

Dashboard video from a patrol car shows 13-year-old Julian Estrada of Florence in distress by the side of the road this past Sunday while his frantic parents try to save their son who had a piece of chicken nugget lodged in his throat, obstructing his breathing.

Trooper James Hearne, and his partner Ruben Benavidez, patrolling Route 129 in Trenton at the time, managed to be flagged down by the Estrada family.

Hearne performed the Heimlich maneuver on the boy, a special needs child,  and after several attempts the food was dislodged.

The teen did not require additional medical attention, NBC40.net reports.
