A man from North Jersey has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for receiving and possessing child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger says 49-year-old Vaughn Tiedeman of West Milford, Passaic County, previously pleaded guilty to charges in Newark federal court.

According to authorities, between July 2018 and April 2019, Tiedeman, "downloaded and possessed more than 600 images of child sexual abuse, including images of young children and depictions of violence."

In addition to the prison term, Tiedeman was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and he was ordered to pay $9,000 in restitution to the victims.

Sellinger credited agents with the Department of Homeland Security with the investigation that lead to Wednesday's sentencing.
