Going to a hospital, generally speaking, is not something we try to do on a regular basis.

In a best-case scenario, you're in a hospital because you need to see a specialist, or are visiting someone.

Worst case you're seriously injured and in need of medical attention.

I'm thankful that I've only been to a hospital on one occasion and that was over twenty years ago because I broke my wrist rollerskating.

If you do however find yourself in need of medical attention, you should be comforted to know that New Jersey has some of the best hospitals in the country.

I'm not just saying that out of Jersey pride or anything either, there's actual evidence to this claim!

A report on Patch showed that 33 hospitals in the Garden State got a grade of 'A' when it came to protecting patients from preventable errors.

The report comes from an independent hospital watchdog group called the Leapfrog Group.

This is a pretty big deal for those hospitals with an 'A' rating by the way.

According to the Leapfrog Groups website, their rating system is the gold standard for measuring patient safety amongst organizations like MSNBC, AARP, and The New York Times.

What Goes Into The Hospital Grading System?

The Leapfrog Group looks at a lot of data to produce their bi-annual letter grades.

They look at staff responsiveness, how often a hospital gives a patient a recommended treatment for a medical condition, and the outcome of treatment.

Those are just a few things, the grading system is very intensive.

So rest assured you'll be in good hands with one of these 'A' rated hospitals in New Jersey.
