The fourth of July is almost here and while we're all super-excited about it, chances are, our pets are not.  Some dogs and even cats are really troubled by fireworks and now there is a really solid solution, but it may give them the munchies.

Remember that classic photo of dogs smoking, drinking, and playing poker?  Just replace the cigar with a doggie doobie and you'll see where I'm going here.

I was shopping for my Golden Doodle Fozzie and I saw something at the register that I just had to buy.  A buzz for my buddy?  You bet. ICYMI, Amazon, and pet shops alike are now selling their version of doggie pot.

These calming products are chews of course and not something to smoke (I just wanted to make you giggle) and they are made from hemp oil and CBD.  The effects are supposed to be naturally calming.  Vets recommend that if you are going to go this route you should only use a product designed for animals and not your own CBD.

I should clarify there is a difference between CBD and THC, the products approved for pets use CBC/Hemp and there are big benefits.

Uses For Dog CBD

Arthritis

Calming/Anxiety (fireworks)

Cancer (pain relief)

Just like us our pups have cannabinoid receptors which mean CBD can help them with:

  • mood
  • appetite
  • memory
  • metabolism
  • sleep
  • relaxation
  • coordination
  • immune system

This year Fozzie can rest easy when our fireworks celebrate the season.  Maybe I need to make him some munchies too?  Here are some brands I found on Amazon for your pooch:
