New Coca-Cola Machines Will Soon be Contactless
Coca-Cola has reinvented soda vending machines in the midst of the Coronavirus pandmeic. The company is releasing, what they are calling, a Freestyle Dispenser. This machine will let customers choose and pour their drinks with their phone. This is all a part of the ongoing effort to make as many things contact-less as possible.
And get this, you don’t even have to download an app or create an account to use this new machine. All you have to do is hold up your camera to the display part and this will scan a QR code that will bring you to the Freestyle interface. You then have a whole menu of flavors and drinks to pick from, right from your phone. According to USA Today, you can even pre-save your drinks or mixes once you’ve ordered.
Coca-Cola said in a statement, "The software will be pushed to more than 10,000 Coca-Cola Freestyle dispensers later this summer, and all Freestyle dispensers will be contactless-compatible before the end of year."
After hearing concerns about customers touching all over the soda machines, Coca-Cola wanted to do something different. Companies all over have also been shifting their technology over to contact-less. Experts have been emphasizing that the virus can also be spread by things like cash and credit cards. Therefore, the use contact-less payment systems are becoming more and more common.
While Coca-Cola isn't the first company to do something like this, it will be interesting to see if any other big market companies come up with something like this amid the pandemic.
