Wow, what excellent Throwback Thursday timing!  Molly Ringwald is going back to the 80's!  The Sixteen Candles queen has just signed on to join the cast of the upcoming big screen movie adaptation of Jem and The Holograms.

Ringwald, now 46, helped define the 80's in such Brat Packer/John Hughes movies as Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink. Now, she'll take on the decade's most famous cartoons, following the adventures of pop star Jem and her bandmates.

"I feel extremely honored to have an icon like Molly Ringwald be part of our Jem and the Holograms movie," says director Jon M. Chu, according to People.com. "Not only is she stunning, but she represents a generation of strong women leaders which is exactly what our Jem is all about. Our whole cast has been in awe of her on set and I can't wait for the world to see what she brings to this truly outrageous Jem world. Especially since she's also a singer herself!"
