The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority reportedly says Miss America is too expensive an event to continue at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

It's very sad that Miss America's future in A.C. is uncertain at this point. The competition took place at the historic venue on the Atlantic City boardwalk since Boardwalk Hall since 1940. However, Miss America was absent from the resort town from 2006-2013 when it moved to Las Vegas.

Boardwalk Hall seats just under 15,000. September 2018's Miss America crowning had about 5,800 viewers in attendance, according to Press of Atlantic City. Matt Doherty, Executive Director of the CRDA tells Press of Atlantic City, "13,000 people will not come to watch Miss America.", sighting bigger draws like Celine Dion, who is set for Boardwalk Hall in early 2020.

Doherty remarked that he remains in close content with Miss America organizers in the hopes of keeping it in A.C. We'll see where it lands as there are only eight months left in the year, and reigning Miss America Nia Franklin can't hold onto the title forever.
