Millville Mother Arrested for Abandoning Her Special Needs Child
Talk about heartless -- troopers have arrested a woman from Millville for allegedly abandoning her 10-year-old special needs son in a wooded area.
Troopers say last Thursday, a motorist spotted a boy in a wooded area near the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst visitors center. Military personnel brought the boy in and treated him for some minor injuries.
According to a press release, the boy's mother, identified as 39-year-old Debra Wisler of Millville, spoke to police the next day. Detectives determined that when Wisler discovered her son was not eligible for a child program at the military base, she walked him to the woods and left him there with only his luggage.
Wisler was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was released pending a court date.
