MASSIVE RECALL ALERT: Thousands of Pounds of Chicken Sold at Aldi, Other Stores

Concerns over an outbreak of salmonella have resulted in the recalling of more than 60,000 lbs. of chicken products sold by Aldi and other retailers.

The manufacturer at the center of the recall is Serenade Foods, and reportedly affects several brands of frozen, raw, breaded, and stuffed chicken products dating from February 24th and February 25th of this year, according to CNN.com.

The Products Involved in the Recall

• packaged Dutch Farms Chicken with Broccoli & Cheese
• Kirkwood Raw Stuffed Chicken, Broccoli & Cheese (sold at Aldi)
• Kirkwood Raw Stuffed Chicken Cordon Bleu (sold at Aldi)
• Milford Valley Chicken with Broccoli & Cheese
• Milford Valley Chicken Cordon Bleu

According to USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, “Unopened intact packages of raw, frozen, breaded chicken stuffed with broccoli and cheese were collected from [one] ill person’s home and tested positive for the outbreak strain of Salmonella Enteritidis'.

What to Do If You Purchased Any of the Recalled Chicken

USDA stated Monday, “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.", and it's working with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to determine if the more than two dozen cases of Salmonella Enteritidis that have been reported between the end of February and late June can be attributed to the contaminated chicken products distributed by Serenade Foods.
