The Little Egg Harbor man who got into a confrontation with another man and then proceeded to stab him to death at a home on Maplewood Drive in 2018 has been handed down his sentence.

Richard Pone confronted Kendrick Coley about an assault on a woman at that home earlier that day, on May 18, 2018.

The two quarreled and Coley came after Pone with a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest in an upstairs bedroom.

Pone was pronounced dead at the scene when Little Egg Harbor Police arrived on scene.

An investigation by LEH Detectives and the Ocean County Prosecutors Office MCU led to the identifying of Coley as the suspect and he was arrested on site and has been in the Ocean County Jail since that day.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced Friday that the 29-year old Coley was sentenced to fourteen years in prison as a result of his previously entered guilty plea on October 1, 2021, to Aggravated Manslaughter.

His sentence will be subject to the terms of the No Early Release Act, so he'll have to serve at least 85 percent of his prison sentence before he may be considered for parole.

Prosecutor Billhimer said that Chief Trial Attorney Michael Weatherstone and Assistant Prosecutor Kimberly Carr handled the case on behalf of the State.
