Since 1976, Pine Hill Tavern has been known as one of South Jersey's best dive bars. 45 years later, it's getting a makeover.

I grew up in nearby Erial, the next town over from Pine Hill. I never NOT went to Pine Hill Tavern. Still to this day, it's kind of my 'secret spot'.

Not so 'secret' though, as the locals know what's up. Pine Hill Tavern is one of those Cheers kind of bars where "everybody knows your name." When you can't figure out where to go or what to do, you just go to Pine Hill Tavern for great company, local bands, and their LEGENDARY chicken wings!

Even though Pine Hill Tavern has looked EXACTLY the same basically my whole life, and could probably use the upgrades it's about to get, it's kind of bittersweet. I think the tavern is PERFECT the way it is. I love that nothing's changed in over 40 years. It's what still feels like 'home' to me every time I pop in.

But, I should really get on with all the exciting changes that ARE coming to Pine Hill Tavern.

According to 42freeway.com, the tavern has cleared a wooded area near the corner of Erial Road and Buttonwood Ave. to make way for a new parking lot. The owners hope to turn the existing parking lot into an outdoor Tiki Bar! Can you imagine? A TIKI BAR at Pine Hill Tavern!

There are also plans to renovate the restrooms inside the main bar and expand the views with larger windows. But, wait, I don't WANT to be able to see inside or outside, lol. Remember? Pine Hill Tavern is my 'secret spot', lol.

But, congratulations to tavern staff. It sounds like they just want to make something already so good even better. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!

FYI, Pine Hill Tavern is currently hiring bartenders. If you're interested, click here.
