Rocker and Jersey boy Jon Bon Jovi is on a mission to make sure people in Toms River don't go hungry, especially those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Jon has opened the B.E.A.T. Center at 1769 Hooper Avenue. B.E.A.T. stands for "Bringing Everyone All Together".

B.E.A.T. includes a food pantry, a second Soul Kitchen restaurant (where diners make a minimum $10 donation, or volunteer their service for a free meal), job training and other resources, according to 6ABC.

Bon Jovi describes B.E.A.T. as "a microcosm of what we believe in - community. Bringing people together to help each other and not judging."

Ocean County is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Thousands are still displaced and financially unstable, with one in every eight residents struggling with hunger.

The B.E.A.T. Center will be accessible by public transportation.
