Atlantic County Sheriff's Office

Led by Sheriff Joseph

'TOKYO' O'Donoghue, working closely with the Atlantic County CHIEFS OF POLICE with thier officers and supported by the community (YOU), has played a key role in the reported reduction in crime rates in Atlantic County. While there is still a lot of work to be done, the data shows as long as we continue to work together, we're heading in the right direction. The latest data shows a large reductions in crime from 2024 to 2025 (Uniform Crime Report by FBI). Key Reductions based on data, sourced from New Jersey State Police Offense Reports, shows clear declines in early 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. While some of the available data focuses on AC (the county's largest population center and a key driver of county-level trends due to its higher crime concentration) the patterns include the entire 23 municipalities in our County, said O’Donoghue.

In the past two years — in particular— Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has made it a priority to reduce violent crime in Atlantic City.

Also, make mistake about it … Atlantic County Sheriff Joe O’Donoghue and his agency has focused upon doing the same.

It’s working. The facts support the case that crime is down in both Atlantic City and Atlantic County.
