Vineland, NJ, Man Sentenced For Destructive Device, Explosive Materials

A Cumberland County man is off to prison for possessing a destructive device and explosive materials.

Federal authorities said on Tuesday that 64-year-old Thomas Petronglo of Vineland was sentenced to 24 months behind bars after previously pleading guilty to charges.

According to court documents, on March 12th, 2021, Petronglo was found in possession of a 5 ¾-inch diameter metal can that contained "a quantity of an explosive mixture of potassium perchlorate and aluminum, with a fuse sticking out of the device."

Petronglo also possessed multiple intact improvised explosive devices and explosive materials at his home.

In addition to the prison term, he was sentenced to three years of supervised release.
