A teenager is facing serious charges in connection to the fatal shooting of a man in Cumberland County over the weekend.

Officials with the New Jersey State Police say during the early morning hours of Saturday, January 20th, troopers responded to a home on Quail Ridge Road in Upper Deerfield Township for a reported gunshot victim.

The victim, later identified as 51-year-old Joe Williams, died from his injuries.

Later that day, 18-year-old Jah’lyll Lawrence, who lived at that home, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon/handgun, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Lawrence is currently being held in a local jail.
