A man from Pleasantville has been detained pending trial in connection to the drug-induced death of an Egg Harbor Township man earlier this year.

On Friday, 25-year-old George B. Franco was ordered held on charges of first-degree strict liability for a drug induced death, third-degree resisting arrest, and third-degree possession with intent to distribute in a school zone charges.

Those charges were issued earlier this month after an investigation into the death of 53-year-old Peter Thomas of Egg Harbor Township on May 23rd.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says, "it is alleged that Franco sold Thomas a lethal combination of heroin, fentanyl, 4-ANPP and xylazine."

Franco was arrested on July 18th in Pleasantville and is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
