Morris County, NJ, man sentenced to 7 years in prison for distributing child porn
A North Jersey man is headed to prison on child porn-related charges.
Federal authorities said on Monday, 53-year-old Anselmo Girimonte of Wharton, Morris County, was sentenced to 84 months, or 7 years, behind bars after pleading guilty to one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.
According to officials, from December 27th, 2021, through January 17th, 2022, Girimonte distributed files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse via a publicly available online file-sharing program.
Undercover law enforcement officers accessed that program and during their investigation, a user, later identified as Girimonte, shared multiple video files of adults sexually abusing prepubescent children.
During a March 2nd, 2022, search of his home, authorities found over 100 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse on his cell phone.
In addition to the prison term, Girimonte was sentenced to a decade of supervised release and he was ordered to pay $68,000 in restitution to the victims.
