Hamilton Township, N.J. — Two Hammonton men, one of them a juvenile, are facing attempted murder charges after authorities say gunfire struck an occupied home in Hamilton Township in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, and the suspects fled in a stolen Corvette that was later abandoned in Galloway Township.

Criminal charges were signed against both suspects on July 2nd, nearly three months after the April 5th shooting.

Easter Sunday Shooting

Hamilton Township police said they were called to Denbigh Court in the Oakcrest Estates complex just before 4:30 AM after reports of shots fired. At the scene, officers found shell casings in the roadway and discovered that multiple rounds had struck an occupied home.

Surveillance footage captured a black Chevrolet Corvette C8 leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.

Investigators later determined the Corvette had been stolen in Berlin Borough several hours before the shooting. It was found abandoned in Galloway Township sometime after the incident.

Both Suspects Already Behind Bars

Following a lengthy investigation, detectives identified the suspects as 19-year-old Antonio Martinez and an unidentified 17-year-old male, both from Hammonton.

As it turned out, neither had to be tracked down.

Martinez was already lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on unrelated charges when he was served with his new complaints.

The juvenile was already at Harborfields Atlantic Youth Detention Center on separate unrelated charges.

Charges

Both suspects face attempted murder, conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and receiving a stolen vehicle.

The juvenile faces the additional charge of possession of a firearm by a minor.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
