Emmy Award-winning Veteran Reporter Leaves Philadelphia TV Station

A two-time Emmy award-winning reporter in Philadelphia has left the TV station she has called home for the past dozen years.

NBC 10 reporter Cydney Long took to Facebook this past weekend to share the news that last Friday, October 29th, was her final day at WCAU-TV.

She remarked, "It has truly been an honor and a privilege to tell your stories and to serve my native South Jersey, and beyond. It has shaped my life and been impactful in so many ways."

Nearly 30-year career

Long's career in television news started in 1994 in Tampa. From there, she moved to Austin, TX, in 1999.

In 2001, she joined the staff at KYW as a New Jersey correspondent and general assignment reporter.

Long moved over to NBC 10 in March of 2011.

Long's bio page on the NBC 10 website says she won a Mid-Atlantic Emmy for breaking news coverage of the deadly Atlantic City Tropicana Casino garage collapse in 2003.

Long continued her remarks on Facebook by saying,

It’s time now to deliberately participate with regard to my story, my kids, and this next chapter for my family and I. I am excited about new opportunities and adventures. I’m still going to be a home town girl, Stay tuned!!

Details as to whether Long's departure from NBC 10 was voluntary or involuntary were not immediately known.
