Cyclist Hurt in Crash Involving 80-year-old Driver in Egg Harbor Twp., NJ
A cyclist was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash with a car in Egg Harbor Township.
The accident happened around 5:40 in the area of Ocean Heights Avenue and Broadmoor Drive.
The Egg Harbor Township Police Department says a car being driven by 80-year-old Leonard Kuch of Lincoln University, PA, was traveling southbound on Ocean Heights Avenue when an unidentified cyclist crossed into Kuch's lane from the northbound side to the southbound, causing the car to crash into the cyclist.
The cyclist was then thrown off of the bicycle and onto the hood of the vehicle.
The cyclist was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Campus in Atlantic City with serious injuries.
The crash in being investigated by officers with the Egg Harbor Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit.
Southbound Traffic on Ocean Heights Avenue was diverted for approximately 2 hours while the scene was being investigated and cleared.
Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
