After three decades of serving delicious Chinese food in Atlantic County, a pair of restaurateurs is heading into retirement.

Over on the White Horse Pike in the Marketplace of Absecon shopping center (where the new Aldi store is) sits China Sea of Absecon, a fantastic local landmark that has been open since 1995.

Longtime Owners Announce Retirement

Within the past few days, Lily and Chei, the owners, have announced that they are retiring.

They took to Facebook on Monday to share their news, saying,

We have had the pleasure of serving this community for over 30 years, and we want to let everyone know that we are officially retiring. We are grateful for your support throughout the years. Being able to serve you, get to know your families, and grow alongside this community has been an honor.

Restaurant Will Stay in the Family

The good news is the restaurant is not closing. In fact, it's staying in their family.

Our niece and her husband will be taking over, and we are confident they will continue the same level of care and commitment. We hope you will continue to support them just as you have supported us through the year.

Decades of Dedication and Delicious Food

As someone who has dined at China Sea for a good 20 years now, I could probably count on one hand the number of times that I didn't see Lily or Chei hard at work -- and that's probably why they're stepping away.

We all know that running a restaurant is an eight-day-a-week job. You're constantly working from before sunrise to after sunset, managing a staff, dealing with customers, juggling food costs, ordering what you need, and a lot more. It certainly isn't easy.

And, by the way, for those who eat gluten-free, China Sea's GF menu is extensive and everything on it is absolutely delicious. It's not always finding a good gluten-free restaurant, but they've been at the top of my list for a very long time.

We will miss you all, and we cannot thank you enough for making the past 30 years so special.

Good luck in your retirement!
