A British citizen was sentenced to almost a dozen years behind bars for possessing over a thousand child porn images and traveling to New Jersey to engage in illicit sexual conduct with two young girls.

A 140-month sentence was handed down to 54-year-old Stephen Hudson of Ealing, England, in Newark federal court on Tuesday. He had pleaded guilty to charges last month.

Undercover Operation Led to Arrest in NJ

Federal authorities said from April 14th to May 6th, 2022, Hudson communicated with undercover agents using an encrypted email account, in an attempt to make arrangements to sexually abuse two young girls.

Hudson agreed to travel from Massachusetts to New Jersey and pay approximately $1,200 in exchange for, among other things, engaging in sexual acts with minor girls and illicit drugs that he planned to administer with alcohol to them.

On May 6th, 2022, Hudson traveled to an agreed-upon location in New Jersey to have sex with the two girls and he gave $1,200 in cash to undercover law enforcement agents as previously agreed. Once the money was exchanged, he was taken into custody.

1,700 Child Abuse Images Found on Laptop

According to officials, a search of Hudson's laptop revealed 1,751 images of child sexual abuse, including material portraying prepubescent minors and the sexual abuse and exploitation of infants and toddlers.

In addition to a prison term, Hudson will be on supervised release for up to five years.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
