Atlantic City, NJ, man pleads guilty to kidnapping, firearms charges

An Atlantic City man with a long criminal history is potentially facing nearly two decades in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping, firearms, and numerous other charges.

Glen Graves of Atlantic City, NJ, Pleads Guilty

On Monday, 33-year-old Glen Graves pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping, second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight.

Under the terms of a plea agreement, he is expected to be sentenced to 18 years behind bars later this summer, plus five years of parole supervision once he is released.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on the morning of December 27th, 2022, Graves forcibly entered an apartment on the 800 block of North Virginia Avenue in Atlantic City while armed with a handgun.

Graves ransacked that apartment and then forced the resident, at gunpoint, to drive to a local bank where the victim was forced to withdraw $600 from an ATM.

After police received a 9-1-1 call, he fled from the victim's car. While fleeing, he discarded latex gloves and a defaced gun, which were later linked back to him.

Additional Charges in Other Cases

Graves also pleaded guilty on unrelated indictments to charges of second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree eluding police.

• On August 5th, 2022, he fired a handgun at an occupied vehicle that had been driving through Brigantine Homes in Atlantic City.

• Graves also admitted that on December 4th, 2022, he deliberately eluded Egg Harbor City police officers when he fled from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle.

He was apprehended last year at a home in Galloway after a cooperative effort by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the FBI, and the Galloway Township Police Department.

Graves is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility and his sentencing is scheduled for July. The court denied his request to be released until then.
