
Atlantic City Man Gets Prison for Handgun Found During Traffic Stop
Atlantic City, N.J. — A man from the World's Play Ground will be spending the next few years in prison on a weapons charge.
After previously pleading guilty to a second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun charge, 42-year-old Michael Wimbish of Atlantic City has been sentenced to three and a half years behind bars without parole.
Gun Found During 2022 Traffic Stop
Prosecutors in Atlantic County say on November 9, 2022, officers with the Galloway Township Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Wimbish, who was the driver and registered owner of the vehicle, had an active warrant out of Atlantic City.
During the stop, a police canine conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle. A subsequent search was conducted in which a loaded handgun was located between the driver's seat and the center console.
Wimbish was taken into custody and charged accordingly.
