2 Teens Charged in the Shooting Death of a 14-year-old in Atlantic City, NJ
Two juveniles from Atlantic City have been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy earlier this month.
It was on the night of January 5th when officers with the Atlantic City Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue for a disturbance involving numerous people with possible shots fired.
At the scene, cops located two young men who had both been shot.
2 Victims
The first juvenile, a 16-year-old from Atlantic City, identified by authorities as "A.C.," was treated at AtlantiCare Medical Center-City Division for a gunshot wound to the leg.
The second victim, a 14-year-old boy identified as "F.G.," was also taken to ARMC-City with a gunshot wound to the head. He died from his injuries the next day.
2 Arrested
Authorities have arrested two 16-year-olds in connection to the alleged crime.
"A.C.," the juvenile that was shot, has been charged with the following:
- Second-degree aggravated assault by discharging his firearm at another person
- Fourth-degree pointing his firearm in the direction of another person
- Second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose
- Second-degree possession of a firearm without having a permit to carry.
He was arrested on January 9th and lodged in the Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center.
A second person arrested, "L.C.," is facing these charges:
- Second-degree aggravated assault by discharging his firearm at another person
- Second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose
- Second-degree possession of a firearm without having a permit to carry
"L.C." was also arrested on January 9th and is being held at the Essex County Youth Detention Center.
Investigation Continues
This incident is being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office's Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
