Whether you are a South Jersey year-round resident, or a seasonal vacationer to the Jersey Shore, we all know one of the highlights of the summer season is not just going to the beach.

Both South Jersey locals and visitors agree that the food you get at the shore towns is just as much of an essential to the summertime as going to the beach. Everyone has their favorite pizzerias on the Ocean City and Wildwood boardwalks, go-to sub shops in Atlantic City and Ventnor, plus favorite breakfast spots in Cape May.

One popular eatery in South Jersey is opening a new location in one of the busiest areas of this Coastal Community

One of the staples of summertime in Sea Isle City for the last couple of decades has been the Bubba Dog cart located on 59th street at the beach entrance.

There are locals and vacationers who have been known to go out of their way to stop by this food stand during the summer months, coming to and from the beach. The loyal customers are part of the reason why Bubba Dogs can now expand to a new location:

"It has always been a long-held dream of ours to expand Bubba Dogs here on our favorite island, Sea Isle City, and, with this being our 25th year, it only seemed appropriate to take a leap. This town has been so good to our family and when this opportunity presented itself, we jumped on it" Owner Tim McNamara explained when I reached out to him about the new location.

"The decision to open our own storefront on the Promenade really came from a combination of opportunity and the desire to grow the Bubba Dogs concept. For many years, we operated at 59th Street and built a great following there, but we always believed there was potential to expand what we offer and create a more permanent space for the business."

The new location on the Sea Isle City Promenade is between 42nd and 43rd streets, with the new storefront next door neighbors are Boardwalk Casino Arcade and Zio Niccolo Pizza. Entering their 25th year, Bubba Dogs will operate both the popular food cart on 59th street and the new location across from the beach for Summer 2026:

"At 59th Street, we built a loyal following over many years, (and) people knew exactly where to find us, and it had that classic neighborhood feel. The new location will likely bring a lot more daily energy with people constantly walking by, families heading to the beach, and visitors discovering us for the first time. We couldn't have asked for a better location, as we are right next to the (Boardwalk Casino Arcade), and the businesses with whom we share the building have been really great in welcoming us to the neighborhood," says Owner Tim McNamara.

"From our perspective, (this news location) creates an opportunity to introduce Bubba Dogs to a whole new group of customers while still welcoming the longtime regulars who have supported us for years. The pace may be a little faster, and there’s more visibility, but the goal is exactly the same as it’s always been: serve great food, keep things fun, and make Bubba Dogs a place people want to come back to every time they’re in town."

The new location will be called Bubba Dogs Snack Shack, in part because this new establishment will offer a wider variety of options than the food cart on 59th Street:

"The new name reflects what we’re excited about most: expanding beyond just hot dogs into more of a classic boardwalk-style snack shack with a wider variety of quick, fun food options....The expanded menu is a big reason for the “Snack Shack” name. We’ll still have the hot dogs people know us for, but we’re also adding more quick bites and refreshing options that are perfect for a beach day or an evening walk through town. At the end of the day, Bubba Dogs Snack Shack is about keeping things simple: good food, quick service, fresh drinks, and a fun, casual spot where locals and visitors alike can stop in and enjoy a classic shore experience."

The new Bubba Dogs Snack Shop is another example of how Sea Isle City, like many Jersey Shore Towns, has evolved over the last 30 years. How many of these old locations do you remember that used to be in the Coastal Community located off Garden State Parkway Exit 17:

Remember These Places That Use To Be In Sea Isle City, New Jersey

Thanks in part to the Ash Wednesday Storm of 1962 and Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Sea Isle City has seen many changes over the years. Whether you grew up in South Jersey or vacationed multiple summers in Sea Isle City, you may remember some of these buildings and businesses that no longer exist. Which ones below do you remember most? (Special Thank you to the Sea Isle Historical Museum for helping me get these pictures and information)
