New sponsorship begins for popular South Jersey LPGA tournament
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is one of the highest revenue-grossing professional women's sports leagues in the world. There are three professional female golfers who are among the top 15 highest-earning women's athletes (Nelly Korda, Jeeno Thitikul, and Lydia Ko).
In total, there were 34 golfers in 2024 who hit the $1 Million earnings mark on the LPGA Tour, and one of the oldest events on the tour is here in South Jersey. The Shoprite LPGA Classic has been a stop on the LPGA Tour for 37 of the last 40 years.
In 2026, 144 women will compete for a share of the $2 Million Purse at Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey. This year's purse is an increase of $250,000 over last year's sharing of winnings.
After 12 years, there will be a new presenting sponsor for the 2026 edition of the ShopRite LPGA Tournament
From 2013 to 2025, the technology company Acer was a presenting sponsor for the ShopRite LPGA Classic. The annual tour stop in South Jersey will welcome the top female golfers in the world to the Seaview Hotel and Golf Club with a new presenting sponsor in 2026.
In a press release from the ShopRite LPGA Classic, they announced the new partnership with Wakefern Food Corp:
“Wakefern has been instrumental to the success of the ShopRite LPGA and ShopRite’s designation as the longest-running continuous title sponsor on the LPGA Tour,” said Michael Taft, executive director for the ShopRite LPGA powered by Wakefern. “In addition to formally welcoming Wakefern to the name of this great championship, we’d like to thank our friends and former presenting sponsor at Acer, who have been tremendous partners for the past 12 years. We would not be where we are today without Acer’s unwavering support over the years.”
Wakefern is the company that oversees the operations of all ShopRite Supermarkets, and hundreds of other supermarkets in the Northeastern United States:
“We’ve long been a supporter and sponsor of this great event and are expanding that commitment now as presenting sponsor to ensure a lasting impact on the community and women’s sports," said Wakefern President Mike Stigers." The ShopRite LPGA powered by Wakefern is the perfect platform for us to do that, and we are excited to continue to expand our partnership in making this premier event even better with new initiatives and new ways to give back and support the athletes and the community in 2026 and beyond."
