Cape May Promenade is getting a new restaurant in time for Summer 2026
One of the popular attractions for South Jersey locals and seasonal visitors to Cape May each year is the promenade. Originally constructed in the aftermath of the 1962 Nor'easter Storm that destroyed the original boardwalk, the Cape May Promenade is almost two miles long and runs adjacent to Beach Avenue.
Featuring public restrooms about every half mile, the Cape May Promenade has lights for nighttime visitors, and the south end connects to the Sunset Pavilion and Cove Beach. Two of the popular attractions on the promenade are Cape May Convention Hall, and the Cape May Arcades.
New Restaurant Opening In Cape May Before Summer 2026
As we wrote about recently, a new family has taken over the Cape May Arcades, and now we have news that the new Cape May arcade owners will have new neighbors.
In a recent Facebook post, Jessica McDowell and her fiancé, Colin announced that they will be opening the Surfside Grill next door to the Cape May Family-Fun Arcade. Here is an except of their post on social media:
"Hey Cape May! We're the future Cattells, Jess and Colin. Locally born and raised in Cape May, we are excited to be opening Surfside Grill right in-between the arcade and The Fudge Kitchen. Surfside Grill will be bringing back some boardwalk favorites like burgers, funnel cake, cheese steaks and so much more to the Cape May promenade this summer. This week we've been finishing up some details to get everything ready! We'll be open everyday starting Saturday March 28th - Sunday April 12th at 11am."
The location used to be where Los Griegos Locos Taqueria used to operate on the Cape May Promenade. Both Colin and Jessica both graduated from Cape May County-based High Schools, so they are true locals opening a new business in Cape May.
According to the Surfside Grill Instagram Page and other social media posts, the couple appears to be personally working on the new restaurant to make sure it opens soon. Looks like I will have another new spot to check out in Cape May this summer.
