FBI Offers Reward for Info on Northfield, NJ Bank Bandit
The FBI has taken an active interest in in the hunt for a bank robber who hit two South Jersey banks this week.
Police say a white male entered Peake Bank on Tilton Road in Northfield early Thursday evening and demanded the teller put money in a bag. The robber didn't produce a weapon, and no one was injured.
On Friday, Absecon police believe the same suspect robbed the First National Bank at 106 New Jersey Avenue.
According to a statement released by the FBI,
Witnesses describe the robber as a man around 5’7” to 5’10”, with a medium build, wearing black pants, black shirt, and a camouflaged baseball cap. He was also seen wearing a Covid-type mask entering the banks. He used a black sedan as a getaway car. No one was injured during either robbery.
Police believe the same person is responsible for both robberies. Late Friday afternoon, the FBI announced they're offering up to $5000 for information that leads to the arrest of the South Jersey robbery suspect.

According to a report on Statista.com robbery rates have declined dramatically over the past 15 years. New Jersey saw 25 bank robberies according to the most recent FBI report (2021).
According to the same FBI report, New York leads the country in reported bank robberies with 102 reported.
