It's not a Get-Out-of-Jail-Free Card, but it might be as close as some people come.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office is spreading the word to help those facing some legal trouble.

The Big Offer From Authorities in Cumberland County

On their Facebook page, officials with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office are inviting interested people to take part in a "Warrant Recall and Expungement Event."

Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae tells us that her office isn't sponsoring the event - just helping to spread the word about the event.

"We support individuals addressing their warrants, getting new court dates and expunging their records.  Execution of warrants can be a dangerous time for law enforcement and citizens should be afforded opportunities to address their warrants in a safe manner so they no longer have to look over their shoulders waiting to be caught."

The invitation promises services including, "Reentry Services, Housing Assistance, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment, Identification Assistance, and Veterans Assistance."

The event  is scheduled for February 26th, from 10 am - 2 pm, at the First United Methodist Church, on North 2nd Street in Millville.

The invitation says the event is for Cumberland, Salem, and Gloucester Counties.

There is a number to call for Expungement Services: 856-716-2212.

Is There a Catch?

Maybe it's the pessimist in me asking, "Is this for real?

We did some checking and double checking, and yes, it is real, and everything is "above board." This is in no way an attempt to "catch people."

For the record, yes, expungement events are real - and they provide some excellent services, especially for those who've served their time, and may be facing challenges.

Here's what  Prosecutor Webb-McRae says about expungement: "It is a vehicle which helps eligible individuals restore their lives after they have paid their debt to society."
