When you look around your home, do you see a long list of DIY projects you've been wanting to get done? Little things that would make a big upgrade to your living space.
Maybe there's a hole in your fence you've been meaning to repair, your kitchen cabinets need a major overhaul, your bathroom needs a little updating, or your roof leaked during the winter storm we had a few weeks back.

That last one happened at my house! My roof leaked during the snowstorm, and now my foyer ceiling is a total mess. I'll eventually have to get that repaired, but I'm still waiting for the snow on my roof to melt.
Projects Homeowners Are Planning For In 2026
Some projects are more of a priority, while others can wait, but a new study by Ace Handyman Services found that nearly 8 in 10 U.S. homeowners say they have home maintenance or renovation projects on their to-do list for 2026.

Many homeowners are focusing on kitchen and bathroom upgrades, with nearly 1 in 5 reporting that they started a DIY project, but couldn’t finish it, according to the report.
Having the right tools is one thing, but not having the expertise is another. It's very easy to get in over your head.
It's important to find the right balance between projects you can tackle on your own and the ones you'll need to call in the experts. The last thing you want to do is make your project worse and have to spend more money.
As for my roof, it's definitely on my list, and hopefully, come spring, I'll get it repaired!
